Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for Speech and Language
Therapists (SLTs) to join our supportive team and facilitate effective
communication for all.
We have been commissioned by Halton Borough Council
and NHS Cheshire and Merseyside to provide the children and young people's SLT
services in Halton. This includes all elements of universal, targeted and
specialist services.
We are looking for
generalist SLTs for this mixed post, however, where appropriate, we can offer
development opportunities in a wide range of service areas including AAC, ASD
assessments and dysphagia.
The successful candidates will join our Halton Team
and will work in partnership with children, young people, their families and
the children's workforce. You will be supported by our wider team and will be
able to shape both the innovative services in Halton and our organisation as a
whole.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will support assessment and interventions for children for whom we receive a request for specific services.
Our services are mostly delivered within Family Hubs and educational settings and often involve collaboration with parents, carers and the Multi-agency team.
Our team in Halton consists of: Speech and Language
Therapist Lead; Specialist, Senior and Junior SLTs; Early Years Teacher; Speech
and Language Therapy Assistants; all of whom are supported by a Business
Support Team.

Core
responsibilities.
- To provide a speech and language
therapy services to children, directly and through support to their families
and the multi-disciplinary team.
- Provide speech, language and
communication assessments for children and young people in consultation with their
families, the multi- disciplinary team and other SLTs and SLTAs.
- Keep accurate records and provide
written reports.
- Set targets for therapy and monitor
progress.
- Provide intervention on an individual
or group basis as required.
- Develop and demonstrate SLT programmes
and groups for pupils.
- Able to make
independent decisions about caseload management.
- Hold responsibility for own caseload,
working under supervision of a senior SLT.
- Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary
team, contributing to the planning, development and delivery of an effective
and efficient service.
- Liaise with other involved agencies
and with families to provide an integrated service.
- Support SLT student placements.
- Access clinical supervision within the
team via regular meetings, supervision, mentoring and appraisals.
- Be committed to
continuing their professional development.
- Support the delivery of training
programmes to others and contribute to the development of training.
- Contribute to the evaluation and
monitoring of services.
- Participate
in audits of performance against defined standards, policies and procedures.
Person Specification
Experience
Essential
- Work or placement experience working with children, young people, families and the workforce as a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) or SLT student.
Desirable
- Experience working as an SLT with children, young people who have Speech, Language and Communication Needs, their families and the Multi-agency team.
- Experience working within early years settings and schools.
- Experience in using Microsoft Office 365 suite including Outlook, SharePoint and Teams.

Qualifications
Essential
- Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Degree or Masters.
- Registration with RCSLT and HCPC.
Desirable
- Completed Newly Qualified Practitioner (NQP) Framework (This is not essential as successful candidates can join our NQP preceptorship programme).
