The maternity team at CDDFT are searching for committed, dynamic and enthusiastic band 6 midwives to join our community teams. We want you to be here, shaping our vision for an outstanding service that gives women, families, our community and our midwives an extraordinary experience. You will join a warm and supportive team of midwives who truly care about the whole maternity experience.

We welcome applications from band 5 Midwives who are currently due to complete their preceptorship programme.

We are seeking community midwives who are enthusiastic and committed to working in collaboration with women & birthing people, families and the multi-disciplinary team, supporting personalised choice and promoting exemplary care in line with national transformation ambitions and our trust values.

Our Midwives work across diverse community settings throughout County Durham and Darlington, including areas of vulnerability. You will be supported and welcomed into your role and encouraged to continue your personal and professional development as part of our team. We are keen to develop dedicated community Midwives, who can help us to deliver exceptional care to the families that we support.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for passionate and committed band 6 midwives to provide maternity care within our community midwifery teams. You will be responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised care plans which ensure delivery of holistic, research based care, prioritising communication, informed consent and relationship building. CDDFT community midwives are passionate about facilitating antenatal and postnatal continuity of care and you will be supported as an autonomous practitioner to plan your diary around your caseload, ensuring that women and families are at the centre of everything we do.

Our teams provide care to women and families across both urban and rural settings, we can offer you the opportunity to work within one of our dedicated community midwifery team hubs across the area.You can choose to join our dedicated teams based in Darlington, Bishop Auckland, Ferryhill, Derwentside or Chester-Le-Street. We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated band 6 Midwives who are keen to join and help further develop our community midwifery teams across the Darlington and County Durham areas, with many new opportunities on the horizon at CDDFT it is a very exciting time to be a part of our Maternity family! Our teams provide care to women and families across both urban and very rural settings, we can offer you the opportunity to work within one of our dedicated community midwifery team hubs across our trust.

You can choose to come to join our dedicated teams across Darlington, Bishop Auckland, Ferryhill, Derwentside or Chester-Le-Street, providing joined-up care for diverse communities throughout our area.

We wish to encourage community midwives with an interest in providing care across the pregnancy and postnatal journey to apply to work with us to deliver outstanding community based Antenatal and Postnatal Care to the mothers and families in our area. We are also commited to provision of our home birth service and would particularly welcome community midwives with an interest in developing this important area of care. The focus of our dedicated community teams is patient centred and individualised care, providing support and continuity throughout the antenatal and postnatal period and promoting choice to families from across our diverse community.

We are looking for individuals with a passion for health promotion, as the role of community midwife at our trust includes working within the UNICEF framework for Infant Feeding, and close working relationships with our specialist antenatal and newborn screening Team to deliver all elements of the National Screening programme.

You will be very well supported with a bespoke induction and training package by members of our specialist Practice Development Team who will ensure your support as you transition to your new role both professionally and personally. The successful candidate will be supported and encouraged to seek educational opportunities to further their Continuing Professional Development and career progression. We are a trust which actively supports and encourages lifelong learning and development and we are very keen to support you to achieve your full potential with us. In turn, you will have the opportunity to assist in supporting the development of our preceptorship, Internationally Educated and student midwives.

We are currently seeking midwives for our community teams in Bishop Auckland, Darlington, Ferryhill, Chester-Le-Street and Derwentside.

All of our teams work under the care of a dedicated team leader in each team, with a Community Matron and Matron for Health Inequalities offering close support to each team. You will also be able to access personalised pastoral care via our specialist workforce experience teams, including our retention lead midwife and the PMA service.
