Job summary
Applicants are welcomed to apply for the post of Consultant Orthodontist (part time 6PA's) at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro. This post will join the existing consultant orthodontist and other orthodontic team members. In addition to this, the department has colleagues in oral and maxillofacial surgery, maxillofacial technology, oral surgery and restorative dentistry. The department has a fully manned in-house laboratory and already uses 3D orthognathic planning software.
The successful applicant will contribute to the provision of MDT care by working alongside colleagues on joint clinics for hypodontia, orthognathic surgery and oral surgery. The department contributes to the Southwest Cleft Team, who visit 6 times a year for MDT clinics. The new orthodontist has the opportunity to further develop links to Peninsula Dental School and continue the department's progress towards a digital workflow

Main duties of the job
- Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of Orthodontic patients
- Management of complex and multi-disciplinary orthodontic patients
- To share with colleagues' responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Orthodontic Department
- Teaching and training of junior staff and medical students where applicable
- To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME)
- To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and Audit
- To attend meetings as appropriate
- Fulfil duties of weekly timetable
