Job summary

We are a progressive training practice that values clinical excellence, continuity of care and community links. We continue to grow, currently servicing the needs of a very varied group of 22,000 patients.

We are looking for a fixed term, possible temp to perm, 5/6 sessions per week maternity cover GP, starting circa September 2024.

Our ideal candidate will have experience of working in a primary care setting along with excellent clinical, consultation and interpersonal skills.

  • Clinical team includes Urgent Care Practitioners who do our home visits freeing time for admin in the middle of the day.

Job description

Job responsibilities

You will be required at the surgery premises and elsewhere to provide medical care including related administration as follows:

Working booked surgeries - 14 booked patients per surgery, to include both reactive and proactive medical care.

Visiting housebound patients - Most visits are undertaken by the Urgent Care Practitioners, there may be occasions when you are asked to undertake a visit or you choose to as part of the care of a patient you know well.

On call duties up to a total of 2 half days a week for a 6 session GP.

Extended hours duties 1 hour each week.

Record keeping using the EMIS Web system - The successful candidate is required to keep proper records of attendance, visits by and to any patients and all such other records as are required by NHS legislation or are reasonably required by the Practice.

To work with the partners, the patient and their carers to ensure that patients at risk of hospital admission have a relevant and up-to-date care plan.

To be the named GP for a % of the practice population appropriate with the number of clinical sessions worked.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification, to hold a current certificate of prescribed experience.

Desirable

  • MRCGP Post graduate diploma in an area of interest (eg pediatrics/O&G) LoC-IUT LoC-SDI.

Other

Essential

  • Full registration with the GMC. Listed on the UK Medical Performers List. Must meet professional health requirements in line with GMC standards/Good Medical Practice.

Desirable

  • Educational and/or clinical supervisor for junior doctors. Has an interest in primary care research.
