Job summary
An exciting opportunity for a fixed-term Specialty Manager in our 'RUH in the Community' service. This is a combination of ward-based delivery alongside Hospital at home. This post is for an ST1-2 trust doctor for Geriatric Medicine/ Acute Medicine, depending on previous experience. Ideally, we are looking for a full-time post; however, we would consider part-time (5-10 sessions).
Main duties of the job
Permanent contract for a Specialty Doctor or General Practitioner to support our developing service working over a ward and community setting. Ward 4 in St Martins will care for and prepare patients for transfer to their homes under H@H.
The Specialty Doctor or General Practitioner will work under the supervision of a Consultant in conjunction with the junior medical team. Flexibility in the job plan will be required. Department or referred directly to the Older Persons' Assessment Unit. You will provide clinical assessment and management of patients, support the multidisciplinary team to progress Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment, and promote safe and efficient discharge by liaison with the MDT, patients and relatives.

Qualifications
Essential
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Completed at least 4 years full time postgraduate training (or equivalent gained on part time basis) or have equivalent experience and competencies.
- At least 2 years' experience in a relevant specialty
- Primary Care or Medical specialty
Desirable
- Postgraduate medical exam: MRCP or MRCGP
- Diploma in Geriatric Medicine
- Evidence of experience in Geriatrics inpatient care
Clinical Experience
Essential
- Knowledge of own limitations
- Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on range of problems both emergency and elective within speciality
- Appropriate knowledge base and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
- Able to work without direct supervision where appropriate
- Able to prioritise clinical need
- Able to maximise safety and minimise risk
Desirable
- Evidence of relevant academic and research achievements, and involvement in a formal research project
- Evidence of relevant academic publications
- Evidence of involvement in an audit project, a quality improvement project, formal research project or other activity
- Evidence of involvement in teaching students, postgraduates and other professionals
- Evidence of participation in a teaching course
