CT/MRI Radiographer, Band 6, Cumberland Infirmary, up to 55.5 hours per week available

The department of Radiology at the Cumberland Infirmary is part of the directorate of radiology for north Cumbria and comprises general radiography, fluoroscopy, dental, angio (including coronary) CT, MRI, ultrasound facilities. The directorate undertakes in the region of 230,000 examinations per annum. Referrals for radiological opinion come from a wide range of specialities encountered within an acute district general hospital including 24 hour emergencies and primary care. The establishment includes consultant radiologists, professional lead for radiology, radiographers up to band 8, nurses, admin & clerical, porters and radiology support staff. The directorate of radiology is part of the clinical support division.

Main duties of the job

Work within the team that provides 24 hour MR and CT services, playing a major part in the practical training of radiographers, students and other staff. Take responsibility for the daily organisation of the service as required, amending workload and schedules to adjust for emergencies. Take responsibility for the wellbeing and positive experience of patients and carers in your locality. Participate in research and suggest areas where formal audit and research could aid service quality and development.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in radiography or equivalent
  • HCPC registration.
  • Relevant postgraduate certificate or equivalent.

Desirable

  • Relevant post graduate diploma or equivalent.
  • Certificate of competence in IV administration
