Job summary
Colne Medical Centre is looking for a qualified dispenser to join our friendly but busy team working in our dispensary. Colne Medical Centre has two branches and this role will be based at the Alresford branch. The role is for 10-15 hours per week with the potential for additional hours in the future. The post holder may, on occasion, be required to provide extra dispensary cover during holidays or sickness.
Interviews will be carried out for successful applicants on receipt of application, and we reserve the right to retract the advert if a suitable person is found before the end date.
Main duties of the job
- Issue of repeats paper and EPS from online/email/ paper requests.
- Monitoring of medication reviews
- Dealing with all patient enquiries and liaising with clinical team
- Preparing and dispensing medication
- NHS script and non NHS fees
- Endorsing prescriptions and preparing scripts for PPD submission
- Ordering, accepting deliveries and checking in of stock
- Cash up till
- Follow/monitor/write SOPs (Standard operating Procedures) in line with good practice and DSQS (Dispensing Services Quality Scheme)

- Must be qualified to NVQ level 2 in dispensing
Experience
Essential
- The successful candidate will also be able to deal sensitively with any patient complaints directing them to the dispensary manager, and to deal with outside agencies and ICB representatives where appropriate. The person will have basic IT skills, good organisational skills and the ability to work alone with confidence.
- Training will be given on our clinical system (EMIS Web).
