post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs
in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered
and temporary patients.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Responsibilities:
- In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
- Providing counselling and health education
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
- Collecting data for audit purposes
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions
- Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
- In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
About us
Somerset
Gardens Family Health Care Centre is a purpose built modern primary care centre
in East Haringey. The practice is situated to the west of Tottenham High Road
a few minutes walk from White Hart
Lane overground railway station. It is a short drive from the North Circular Road. The practice has a gated car park available
to practice staff.
The practice
philosophy is to give attention to patients needs and see them as
individuals. The partners are keen to provide a high quality of care to their patients,
while maintaining a good work life balance for all. The partners along with the salaried GPs work
within a well-functioning partnership, where they are supportive of one another
and sensitive to each others needs.
The practice provides general medical
services through a PMS contract with NHS Haringey to around 14000 patients in
the surrounding area. The patient profile includes a significantly
high ethnic mix with patients coming from a variety of cultural backgrounds. A
proportion of the patients have settled locally and have remained with the
practice for years, whereas others are transient with a high turnover.We
are a training practice with capacity for three learners. We also have close
links with Middlesex University for nurses education. The practice has a
strong education focus.
The practice uses the EMIS
PCS clinical computer system. The
practice is also connected to the NHS Net.
Hospital test results are received on-line.

The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others health, safety and security as defined in the Practice Health & Safety Policy, to include:
- Using personal security systems within the workplace according to Practice guidelines
- Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks
- Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills
- Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards
- Reporting potential risks identified.
Probationary Period:
There will be a one year period of mutual assessment, during which time the period of notice will be one week on either side.
Notice Period:
Once the probationary period has been completed, there will be a three-month period of notice on either side to terminate the employment.
