Job summary

Are you about to qualify or already working as a Band 5 OT and keen to gain experience working with children and young people? Come and work with a friendly, experienced team of Children`s Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists improving the lives of children and young people in BANES. We are based in the well resourced Children`s Centre at the Royal United Hospitals Bath, where children and young people are seen for outpatient appointments by the team. The role will also involve travelling to home and education settings in the community, so access to a car and a full driving license are essential.

Main duties of the job

1. To manage and prioritise a designated caseload of children with physical disability, and developmental difficulties under guidance from a senior Occupational Therapist.

2. To provide Occupational Therapy input on the Children's Ward as necessary

3. To be able to assess children using a range of standardised and non standardised assessment tools.

4. To work with children and parents to identify Occupational Therapy goals and ensure effective outcomes for children

5. To form effective therapeutic relationships with children and families.

6. To plan and implement evidence based Occupational Therapy programmes using a wide range of treatment skills and options, with individuals or groups. Being able to demonstrate skills in motivating children and/or carers to engage in the therapeutic process

7. To prescribe equipment and ensure continued appropriateness to meet clinical needs.
