Job summary

Are you a newly qualified or about to qualify Speech & Language Therapist looking to progress your clinical skills and professional career in paediatrics? Are you looking for a role that offers flexible working to coincide with your home life and also pays HCAS?

We have an exciting opportunity for an NQ OR experienced band 5 SaLT to join our amazing school age and early years integrated therapy teams.

This role is based in Wokingham and will include school, nursery and clinic visits as well as participating in service improvement and working parties where appropriate.

You will be under the direction of a Band 6/7 therapist taking responsibility for a dedicated caseload. You will have the opportunity to work alongside (and shadow) experienced therapists across a variety of settings and range of specialisms.

You will work closely with a Preceptor who will support your transition into the role and also sign off your band 5 competencies as you develop. You will also have the opportunity to attend training sessions and develop your knowledge and skills within paediatrics.

The position is Monday to Friday 9:00am - 17:00pm and we are happy to consider those looking for flexible working patterns, including term time only. The role will involve travel to several sites but also leaves room for some home working.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide high quality assessment and interventions for children and young people with developmental / complex communication needs
  • Opportunity to work alongside, and learn from experienced therapists
  • Be involved in the implementation of training packages
  • Contribute to defined projects and service development initiatives
  • Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical record

Education/Qualifications/Training

Essential

  • AHP qualification degree or equivalent
  • HCPC Registered

Continuous Professional Development

Desirable

  • Completion of post graduate education or training relevant to clinical role or post

Previous Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with families from a wide variety of backgrounds including age and ethnicity

Desirable

  • Evidence of experience in clinical work in children's services
  • Experience of evaluating and managing a range of developmental speech, language and communication conditions

  • Evidence of a value system which puts the child at the heart of actions
