Main duties of the job

We have a vacancy at middle grade fellowship level in this popular teaching department. The post is vacant from August 2024 and we plan to appoint for a Fixed Term Contract for 12 months with the possibility of an extension of contract. It would be ideal for a trainee going through CESR application, a visiting senior trainee with a visa, or a post-CCT candidate looking at more autonomous practice.

This is a popular and friendly training unit with specialty trainees from the Oxford and London deaneries. The fellowship available will be with our Upper Limb consultants working in subspecialty practice but also having regular on call weeks for additional banding and to allow trainees to maintain trauma skills and their trauma logbook.

Our posts are very popular, and we have trained and supported several surgeons successfully through the FRCS (Orth) exam and subsequent CESR application. The post is across two hospitals - an efficient elective unit (Wycombe), and a busy trauma unit (Stoke Mandeville). This is a very beautiful county with outstanding local schools and excellent transport links to London, Birmingham and overseas.
