Job summary
Twineham ward is seeking dedicated and dynamic band 5 staff nurse to join our friendly department. Twineham is a 37 bedded, mixed sex orthopaedic ward providing a dedicated fractured neck of femur service, specialised care and acute rehabilitation for patients following emergency and elective surgery.
We welcome applications from those who currently hold a UK NMC registration.
Main duties of the job
Twineham ward is a busy ward catering fractured neck of femur services and also providing care for a variety of injuries including fractures and soft tissue trauma, offering nurses a chance to develop their skills in orthopaedic nursing.You will be working with a friendly and experienced multidisciplinary team to:
- Deliver patient-centred nursing care on the ward aiming to achieve the highest possible standards of care delivery, in accordance with the Trust's Strategy for Nursing and Midwifery
- Deputise in the absence of more senior nursing staff and undertake ward management duties as required
- Promote best clinical and professional practice
- Ensure efficient use of resources
- Assist in the promotion of a conducive learning environment for all staff and students

Specific duties and responsibilities are subject to specific training, adhering to protocols/policies and formal assessment of competency.
- Develop an understanding of all the elements of the nursing process and carry out ongoing assessment, planning, management and evaluation of care
- Support individuals with all aspects of care including daily living, providing person centred care and promoting health and independence
- Perform and record clinical observations as per Trust policy
- Administer oral and IV medications safely in a timely manner after successful completion of the medication administration competencies
- Undertake clinical tasks including venepuncture, cannulation, ECGs, Traction care, NG feeding, catheterisation etc
6.Assist in the assessment of and contribute to the management of risk across several areas within the environment where care is being administered
- Assist in the implementation of appropriate action to meet the specific physical, emotional, psychological, social, cultural and spiritual needs of individuals and carers
