Main duties of the job

We are excited to offer a compassionate, dedicated Occupational Therapist (experience equivalent to Band 6) the opportunity to join our team at The Laurels on a full time, permanent basis.

Located just two miles from Lincoln’s historic city centre, The Laurels neurological rehabilitation service provides accommodation for 12 adult residents. The facility is fully adapted for wheelchair access and boasts en-suite bathrooms, a therapy room, training kitchen, and a community garden.

At The Laurels, we specialise in supporting patients with acquired brain injury, traumatic brain injury, severe neurological conditions, complex stroke, and spinal cord injury.

Our interdisciplinary team is composed of skilled professionals, including a Rehabilitation Consultant, Neuropsychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy, work together to develop person-centred, evidence-based rehabilitation care plans that aim to maximise independence and recovery.

We deliver high-quality and intensive neurological rehabilitation. Our comprehensive approach includes physical, cognitive, functional, and vocational assessments, along with behavioural management and complex disability assessments for adults.

What you'll be working:

Our standard hours for this role are 37.5 hours per week, 5 days out of 7 including an on-call rota. However,we understand the importance of a positive work-life balance, and therefore, if you require some flexibility to better suit your personal or professional needs, we encourage you to discuss this with us, andwe willdo our best to accommodate your preferences where possible.

What you'll be doing:

Keep people safe from harm and protect their human rights

Liaise effectively with multidisciplinary team colleagues

Keep up to date with new treatment methods and be actively involved in research projects relating to specialist area

Provide support and guidance for junior staff and advice with complex cases where necessary assisting in the treatment of such cases

Evaluate effectiveness of service and carry out audits where required

Be responsible for department training and contribute to training and development of all staff

Ensure risk management and safety procedures are in place for the OT Department and adhered to

Provide highly specialist OT intervention for complex caseload in your specialist area

Develop and maintain good working relationships with all colleagues, visitors and carers

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • HCPC registration
  • Occupational Therapy Degree
  • Full UK driving license with access to a vehicle will be required for home visits

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience working within neurorehabilitation
