Trust SHO - Emergency Department
We are recruiting into a Trust SHO post in Emergency Medicine in support of the Trust's strategy to develop and support emergency services appropriate to a busy local acute hospital, with a comprehensive range of medical and surgical services.
We are looking for junior doctors who want to work in an evolving emergency dept. and be part of an evolving team, and support and implementing the changes which will take the service forward. This is a full time post but applicants wishing to job share are welcome.
Main duties of the job
The Trust SHO will be responsible for the immediate assessment and management of patients attending the Department, including the initial investigation, treatment and subsequent discharge or referral to specialist teams. This will be under the supervision of the duty ED consultants who currently provide a clinical presence for 08.00-00.00 Weekdays & 08.30-00.00 Weekends and the speciality doctors and specialist registrars who provide cover on a 24-7 basis.
The SHO is responsible for effective communication with the on-call specialist teams and GPs based within the Community. In the event of a Major Incident the ED SHOs remain in the hospital and provide urgent medical treatment for casualties within the Emergency Department.

- MBBS Degree or equivalent
- Registration with the GMC
- Successfully completed Foundation year 1 Programme or equivalent
