Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and well organised Administrator to play a fundamental role in providing day to day administrative support to the Genetics Laboratory team.

The role requires a dynamic individual with excellent organisational and communication skills. An essential part of the role involves communicating with a wide range of people at all levels, both internal and external to the department. We are looking for an individual who has the ability to work autonomously but also to be an integral part of our team. You will possess excellent I.T. skills, be able to manage and prioritise your workload, and have meticulous attention to detail. You will have a flexible approach to work and be able to adapt quickly to the changing needs of the Genetics Laboratory team.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be based primarily at Birmingham Research Park, which is within walking distance of Birmingham Women's Hospital, however there is an expectation that candidates will on occasion work between the two sites.

If you are a confident user of Microsoft Office software packages and databases, excellent verbal and written skills, and have provided administrative support to a clinical team previously then we would like to hear from you.

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language
  • Medical Terminology or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • AMSPAR or other word processing qualification

Knowledge

  • Working in a busy administrative role
  • Previous administration experience
  • Handling telephone and email queries
  • Ability to perform to a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Packages
