Job summary

Ongar Health Centre has a great opportunity for an administrator to join our busy practice support team, for a 12 month fixed term contract, on a full time basis for 37.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

  • Process repeat prescriptions on a daily basis ensuring compliance with the practice protocol ensuring accuracy whilst generating patient written requests for repeat prescriptions.
  • Perform regular searches on drugs requiring monitoring hence minimising the risk of adverse effects.
  • Ensure all current medication have relevant, current authorisations
  • Deal with prescription queries from a range of healthcare professionals including; GPs, nurses, community pharmacists, nursing home staff as well as reception/administration staff at the practice.
  • Add any relevant monitoring diaries.
  • Add new patient medication. Pass to registered GP for approval highlighting any concerns found, add relevant diaries. Liaise with patient via phone call or letter.
  • Communicate with new doctors in medication review protocols and practice formulary choices.
  • Ensure that all prescription queries are passed to the appropriate person as soon as possible for the relevant action.
  • Take prompt action in response to any drug alert bulletins that may be received from time to time.
  • Be able to work methodically and accurately with the ability to self-motivate, organise and prioritise own workload.

We are a large, busy training practice, serving a patient population of 12,000 and operating from purpose built premises. We use SystmOne clinical system and are rated Good with CQC.

  • Understanding of SystmOne preferred but not essential.
  • Previous experience of clinical coding preferred but not essential.
