Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic, highly motivated and dedicated Clinical Support Workers, to join our Ears, Nose and Throat Outpatient team at The James Cook University Hospital (JCUH).

The department currently offer a range of services for both adult and paediatric patients.

Main duties of the job

This is a great opportunity to join our busy ENT department, working alongside Consultants ENT Surgeons, Speech and Language Therapists, Dietitians, Audiologists and Specialist Nurse Teams to deliver high quality service and patient care.

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated people with effective communication skills. You will be required to have an understanding of vital observations, blood glucose monitoring and wound management. Ideally, you will be competent in venepuncture and cannulation, however training can be provided for this. You will be caring for patients with a wide range of mobility needs and will need to be competent and compliant with manual handling procedures and safe use of manual mobility aids.

The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough is a designated major trauma centre and provides all its specialties from one site which is unique for a hospital of its size. In 2012 the Middlesbrough hospital completed a £35 million redevelopment of its cancer services and is now proud to provide some of the best facilities in Europe. The James Cook University Hospital has a modern, central operating suite containing 20 well-equipped theatres and a 16-bedded intensive care unit. There is also an Institute of Learning, Research and Innovation on site, embracing postgraduate medical education, undergraduate teaching centre, nurse training school, the school of radiography and library facilities.

The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton is an essential part of our organisation and an important point of delivery for the community. It is one of the smallest district general hospitals in the country and has 189 inpatient beds.

  • Numeracy and Literacy Level 2
  • Care certificate.
  • Level 3 vocational qualification or Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties and/or Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3; - Theoretical knowledge - Experience of a range of care and related procedures - clinical observations - knowledge of relevant legislation

Experience

  • Experience of working in health or social care.
