Job summary

Applications are invited for a Consultant Radiologist post at the Wye Valley NHS Trust (WVT).

A part time Consultant post is being advertised. This is post required to meet demand for Interventional Radiology.

The successful candidate will join the existing establishment of 14 Consultant

Radiologists in providing a comprehensive Radiology service to the population of Herefordshire Health District plus a catchment population from mid Wales and referrals from parts of surrounding counties of Shropshire, Worcestershire and Gwent (total population 230,000).

The post holder should have broad radiology experience but also the skills expected from a fully trained and experienced general Radiologist.

The post holder will be expected to take part in departmental audit and clinical governance issues, provide training and education to medical and other departmental staff as required and participate in Multi-disciplinary team (MDT) Meetings.

The post holder will not be required to participate in the on-call rota.

Main duties of the job

The post holder should have broad radiology experience including interventional procedures, plain film reporting, barium studies, ultrasound, CT and MRI. The post holder is expected to take initiative in developing a safe and sustainable service and the trust would support the professional development.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The job plan and proposed timetable will be organised to meet the needs of the department and will be by mutual agreement. The job plan will be for 5.5 programmed activities (PAs) to include up to 1.5 SPAs . The working week would consist of 4 PAs for direct clinical care per week. In the first year 1.5 SPAs would consist of 1 core SPAs and 0.5 to develop departmental priorities which can then be formally built into the job plan in subsequent years From year 2, there will be 1 core SPAs + 0.5 for additional agreed responsibilities. Unused SPA time would be expected to be used for direct clinical care.

The 4 DCC Pas will be used for interventional work as required, and general radiology.
