Job summary
Oxleas is a successful and well respected three-star Foundation Trust. It has a large, well-established psychological therapies department, as well as a strong MDT. Oxleas host this post, that has been central to developing the Fun and Fitness programme that provides sports and exercise opportunities to over 80 people with learning disabilities each week and has been nominated for a major national award.
This post is advertised with different potential job titles, as it is open to those interested in pursuing careers in Clinical Psychology, Nursing, or Occupational Therapy. The post holder will work under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist, Nurse, or Occupational Therapist depending on their own educational background and career aspirations.
The post is currently funded until the end of the 2026-27 financial year, however we have been able to extend the funding of the post several times previously and hope to be able to do this again.

Main duties of the job
This post primary involves supporting the Fun and Fitness programme's running and development, including:
- Maintaining communication with programme members and their carers.
- Meeting and greeting programme members, supporting individual members during the running of sessions and attending to group dynamics.
- Processing referrals for the programme and liaising with MDT within Greenwich CLDT and and wider services.
- Audit and Evaluation related to the programme.
There are also opportunities to contribute to broader clinical work within Greenwich CLDT e.g. if employed as an Assistant Psychologist to contribute to specialist assessments and interventions being undertaken in the team.

Job description
Job responsibilities
- To work in close partnership with the multi disciplinary team including Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy and Physiotherapy to support the successful running of existing Fun and Fitness groups.
- To contribute under the leadership of the Consultant Clinical Psychologist, or relevant qualified health professional (if employed as a Senior Support Worker, or Activities Coordinator) and in partnership with the disciplines described, Greenwich Leisure Limited and Royal Borough of Greenwich to support the further development the Fun and Fitness programme
- To assist in producing visual material or user friendly information to support the running of the Fun and Fitness groups,
- To support the recruitment of further service users to attend the groups and working with service users, families and support services to enable regular attendance of groups.
- To educate and involve paid and unpaid carers, family members in treatment and interventions as necessary.
- To educate and involve paid and unpaid carers, family members in treatment and interventions as necessary.
- To receive weekly clinical supervision in accordance with professional practice guidelines.
- To work alongside members of the MDT in terms of supporting sports and leisure providers to develop their practice in working with adults with learning disabilities.
