Job summary

The post holder will support the supervision and training of a team of support workers whorotate through procurement and distribution. The post holder will assist in good receivingduties and the general supply of medicines, receive and check deliveries of pharmacy stock,assemble I.V. fluids and stock medicines for delivery to wards/departments and assist in thereturn of medicines. The post holder will consistently work in an accurate, effective andefficient manner to support the provision of a high-quality service to patients, trust staff anddepartments.

Main duties of the job

To receive deliveries into the Pharmacy, ensuring that the driver deliverydocumentation is checked as correct before accepting the delivery. Some deliveriesarrive on pallets, which may be up to 500kg in weight and require the use of handlingequipment (Pallet Truck).2.To unpack deliveries and record receipt of the goods in accordance with standardprocedures, confirming all batch numbers and expiry dates with invoices, input thedata on the pharmacy computer system and put the stock away to maintain theefficiency of the pharmacy stock system.3.When goods are received to identify unlicensed products and to place them intoquarantine awaiting approval for use

4.To remove from stock, goods no longer fit for use and when authorised to disposeof such goods.5.To issue against requisition lists goods to wards and outlying areas, ensuring thatthe item issued matches that requisitioned. 6.To issue intravenous fluids and other bulky products to wards and departments.This involves handling and lifting of boxes up to 10-15kg in weight, daily.7.Responsible for maintenance of stock in the fluid store.8.To carry out physical stock counts of goods as required.9.To ensure the recording of expiry dates and to maintain records of expiry datechecks at designated times.10.To package vaccines for delivery to maintain the cold chain.
