Job summary

The HIV service is seeking a motivated and compassionate Band 5 Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality, patient-centred care to people living with HIV. You will play a key role in delivering clinical assessments, treatment support, health promotion, and ongoing monitoring for a diverse and often vulnerable patient group.

Working alongside specialist nurses, medical staff, Sexual Health colleagues, and wider support services, you will contribute to safe and effective care pathways, ensuring timely follow-up, adherence support, and safeguarding where required. The role involves both face-to-face and telephone-based clinical work, supporting patients to manage their condition and maintain optimal health outcomes.

This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse looking to develop specialist skills within HIV and sexual health. Main duties of the job

Provide high-quality, patient-centred care for people living with HIV, including clinical assessments, monitoring, and treatment support.

Support patients with medication management, health promotion, and self-care.

Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated and holistic care.

Manage urgent clinical queries, triaging and escalating appropriately.

Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with Trust standards.

Contribute to safeguarding assessments and escalate concerns as required.

Support delivery of national HIV care standards, including monitoring schedules and recall systems.

Oversee vaccination and injectable treatment clinics, ensuring safe monitoring and follow-up.

Supervise the bloods clinic, ensuring safe phlebotomy practice and efficient sample processing.

Support outreach clinic activities.

Participate in service development, quality improvement, and audit activities.

Engage in ongoing professional development to build specialist HIV and sexual health skills.
