Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Healthcare Assistant to join the nursing team at Rother House Medical Centre for 2 days per week. Currently, the required working days are Monday and Tuesday; however, some flexibility may be considered for the right candidate to meet the needs of both the practice and the successful applicant.
The successful candidate will work as part of our friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality patient care and assisting the nursing team with a range of clinical duties. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and compassionate individual who is committed to delivering outstanding patient care within a busy primary care setting.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Duties
- Assist in the care of practice patients, including treatment, preventative care, screening, and patient education.
- Provide health promotion and lifestyle advice to patients and signpost to relevant local and community services.
- Assist with the collection and collation of data relating to patient health and wellbeing.
- Undertake venepuncture (phlebotomy).
- Perform spirometry testing.
- Carry out ECG recordings.
- Conduct blood pressure monitoring.
- Complete new patient health checks.
- Perform urinalysis testing.
- Record height, weight, temperature, pulse, and other routine observations.
- Act as a chaperone during clinical consultations and examinations.
- Prepare for and assist clinicians during clinical sessions, including minor surgery and coil clinics.
- Undertake home visits as required for blood tests, urine collection, and chaperoning duties.
- Perform wound care, dressing changes, and suture removal.
- Carry out INR testing.
- Administer B12 injections in accordance with practice protocols.
- Support seasonal vaccination programmes, including administration of flu vaccinations where appropriately trained and competent.

- Experience of working with the general public
- Experience of working as an HCA or Phlebotomist in a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of safeguarding ,infection control and clinical governance

- Right to work in the UK
- Good communication, organisational and IT skills
- Ability to work Monday and Tuesday 8.15am to 5.15pm
