Job summary

This is a replacement consultant post within the Wales Fertility Institute, joining an established team delivering regional tertiary fertility services across South Wales. The post holder will provide high-quality consultant-led reproductive medicine care, supporting patients through diagnostic assessment and fertility treatment pathways while contributing to safe, effective and patient-centred service delivery. The role is based primarily across Neath Port Talbot and Cardiff, with cross-site working as required to meet service needs. The successful candidate will also contribute to clinical leadership, service development, education, training, governance and research within a university-affiliated specialist fertility service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide consultant-level reproductive medicine services, including outpatient fertility consultations and specialist IVF-related procedures such as oocyte retrieval, embryo transfer and surgical sperm retrieval. They will work closely with consultant colleagues and the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective and efficient care, maintain responsibility for patients under their care, and contribute to high standards of clinical governance, risk management and continuous service improvement. The role includes participation in the consultant on-call rota, supervision and training of junior doctors and other staff, support for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, involvement in audit and research activity, and active contribution to service planning, leadership and development across the Wales Fertility Institute service.
