As a Nursing Support Worker, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting patients with personal and clinical care under the guidance of registered healthcare professionals.
You will help maintain a safe, clean and hygienic environment, monitor and report on patient progress, and contribute to the learning and development of students and junior colleagues. This role is delivered in line with the HEIW All Wales Guidelines for Delegation, the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales, and our Health Board values.
Main duties of the job
Plan and prioritise own delegated workload, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently, safely and effectively, using your initiative to prioritise the work based on the needs of patients, adjusting to ensure emergencies and priority tasks are completed to deadlines.
Work within established procedures when delivering care; and under the supervision of a registered healthcare professional.
Undertake care as directed by the registered health-care professional, following agreed care plans, providing information to the registered healthcare professional that will enable the monitoring and amendment of care plans.
Obtain informed consent prior to providing care, understanding the actions required if care is declined.
Undertake high standards of infection prevention control in the healthcare setting, through effective hand hygiene practices, maintaining a clean environment and cleaning of equipment.
Provide personal care to patients/clients, including using the shower or bath, washing facilities, dressing, supporting patients to meet their oral hygiene needs, accessing, and using toilets, collecting, and disposing of bodily waste, ensuring that privacy, dignity, and security is maintained. This may involve using hoists, wheelchairs or other mobility aids.

The Health Board currently operate a number of different shift systems. The most common are a 12.5 hour shift, inclusive of either one 30 minute or two 30-minute unpaid breaks. These shift patterns are subject to review and the Health Board reserves the right to change working arrangements. CTM is a Health Board committed to meaningful consultation with staff and to making balanced decisions that consider all aspects of our service and workforce.
This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable.Whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates.
