Job summary

Dermatology is one of the largest specialities within our Trust and the admin team are responsible for routine, urgent skin cancer and day case surgery patients.

Escalate patient queries, capacity problems and general issues to the role's line manager or relevant clinical staff as appropriate.

To show a caring and professional approach towards patients, relatives and carers. This may require acting with resilience to deal with sometimes distressed patients and relatives in an empathetic manner.

To monitor, manage and validate active and backlog waiting list data for the Dermatology Department.

To manage patient communications via telephone and use Trust systems to create letters, emails and text reminders. Implement thepatient accesspolicy and investigate patients who do not attend (DNA) their appointment and follow up and investigate rejectedtriagerequests.

To initiate appropriate action to address issues to ensure patients do not breach maximum waiting times and ensure patients are given reasonable notice and appropriate information.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will have a pivotal role in enabling the Trust and individual Dermatology Teams to deliver a high standard of care and communication throughout the pathway. Effective tracking of the pathways will also facilitate the Trust in achieving National Dermatology Waiting Times Standards and other appropriate standards.

  • Your role will involve working closely with clinicians, administrative staff and managers to ensure that weekly meetings are held in an effective way, and making sure outcomes are noted and acted upon. Always keeping records complete and up to date using a range of tools is a core task.

  • Enthusiasm, commitment and flexibility are required for this role along with good customer service and excellent organisational and communication skills. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with excellent attention to detail is essential.

  • The post holder will have responsibility for the organisation, delivery, and recording outcomes of the weekly multi-disciplinary team meeting(s) and follow up decisions taken.

  • The post holder is responsible for ensuring accurate information is electronically stored in a timely and coordinated manner.
