Job summary

Are you looking to develop your career in Geriatric Medicine? We have an exciting fixed-term opportunity for a Registrar to join our friendly and supportive team.

The post would suit doctors currently training in Geriatric Medicine, Acute Medicine or General Internal Medicine who are looking to broaden their experience and develop their skills in the care of older people. We would also welcome applications from doctors working at senior clinical fellow level who have full MRCP(UK), or equivalent qualifications, and relevant clinical experience.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your clinical and professional skills while working within a multidisciplinary team and contributing to the delivery and development of high-quality care for older patients.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake acute clinical shifts as part of the on-call rota. The exact rota arrangements will be confirmed on appointment.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will:

  • Participate in clinical and other service activities, helping to ensure a high standard of patient care.
  • Work closely with allied health professionals to support service delivery, including advance care planning and review of clinical symptoms.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary meetings and develop a strong understanding of effective MDT working.
  • Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training across disciplines and specialties.
  • Contribute to the development of integrated patient pathways.
  • Support service development and evaluation, which may include patient consent and appropriate data handling.
  • Take part in research, clinical audit and quality improvement programmes.
  • Participate in the acute on-call rota and undertake clinical duties appropriate to the level of the post.

The role offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience in managing older patients with complex medical needs, while developing skills in multidisciplinary working, education, service improvement and clinical practice.
