Job summary
The post offers excellent exposure to high volume, complex trauma within a regional Major Trauma Centre, with opportunities to develop operative experience and independent decision making in preparation for consultant practice. The RVI manages both paediatric and adult trauma, treating around 100 open fractures per year and 30-40 pelvic injuries. The unit also offers exposure to limb reconstruction, including circular frame application and management with opportunities for hands on involvement in deformity correction, bone loss, and complex trauma reconstruction.
This post is available from February 2027 for 6 months, with possible extension.
Main duties of the job
Clinical:o Operative management of a wide range of orthopaedic trauma cases with a mixture of supervised and independent operating.o Contribution to trauma rounds, complex trauma clinic and weekly trauma MDT meeting.
Administrative:o Accurate and timely completion of clinical documentation and operative records.o Active participation in service development, clinical governance, and audit activities.
Research:
o Participation in ongoing trauma-related research projects within the department.o Opportunity to initiate and lead research, quality improvement, or audit projects with the aim of presentation and publication.
Teaching:o Involvement in the teaching and supervision of resident doctors and medical students.o Participation in departmental teaching programmes.

- Full GMC registration.

- Current ATLS certification (or equivalent)
