Job summary
Senior School Hearing Screener
Term time hours - 30 hours per week
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced senior school hearing screener to join our friendly and busy School Hearing Screening programme.
They are responsible for day-to day management of all aspects of the programme, including staff (assistant school screener), prompt and appropriate referral to audiology. The service identifies primary school children that may have hearing loss to be referred for further testing so that rehabilitation or assistance can be offered at an early stage.
This is a specialist role requiring an experienced school hearing screener.
This role is school term-time only.
This role will cover all Croydon Junior / primary schools, based at the Crystal Children's Development Centre, Malling Close, Croydon.
The successful candidates will be self-motivated, possess excellent communication skills, have good children handling skills and be highly organized, working under pressure. Experience of dealing with junior staff members required as you will be working with an assistant school screener.

Main duties of the job
1. Act as the professional lead for the day-to day management evaluation and quality assurance of the screening process.
2. To ensure all Croydon school children eligible are offered the primary school hearing screening in a timely fashion.
3. Ensure that a high-quality service is maintained
4. To work independently carrying out hearing screening in primary school children (Year 1 or 2)
5. Accurately recording clinical and test data in accordance with clinical / professional guidelines and standard operating procedures.
6. To obtain informed consent from parents using national guidelines followed by a communication about screening test results and follow up for arrangements of children who require further testing.
7. To liaise with parents and team members, informing them of the screening outcomes as appropriate.
8. To carry out the hearing screening to a high standard in accordance with national standard protocol and local procedures.
9. To accurately record and download clinical test data onto Emis and Auditbase patients notes.
10. To establish a working report with other team members, leaving accurate and up-to-date information daily. This will include information where there are specific data quality issues.
