Job summary
Permanence Support Coordinator - Adopt Thames Valley Join Adopt Thames Valley and play a key role in supporting adopted children, adoptive families and others affected by adoption across the Thames Valley region. Working within the specialist Permanence Support Team, you will help coordinate and develop a range of peer support opportunities, events and group activities designed to strengthen relationships, reduce isolation and improve outcomes for adopted children and families. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a well-established and highly valued regional adoption service. Your role will include organising and attending support groups and family events, maintaining and developing the peer support offer, supporting service delivery and working closely with Team Managers to ensure the highest standards of support are provided. You will also help ensure that services are designed and delivered in ways that maximise participation and reflect the rights, voices and experiences of children, young people and families. We are looking for someone with an interest in adoption, family support or event coordination who is passionate about helping children and families thrive. Experience of supporting families, coordinating activities or working within children's services is desirable, alongside strong organisation, communication and IT skills. This is an excellent opportunity to develop specialist knowledge within adoption and permanence services while making a meaningful difference to the lives of children and families across the region.
Main duties of the job
As a Permanence Support Coordinator, you will organise and develop peer support groups, events and activities for adoptive families and children across the Thames Valley region. Working as part of the Permanence Support Team, you will help strengthen support networks, promote participation and contribute to positive outcomes for children, young people and families affected by adoption.

Adopt Thames Valley (ATV) is a regional adoption agency hosted by Oxfordshire County Council, bringing together seven local authorities to deliver high-quality adoption and permanence services across the Thames Valley. Since launching in 2017, ATV has been committed to supporting adoptive families, adopted children, birth relatives and adults affected by adoption through specialist, therapeutic and relationship-focused services. The agency believes that adoption support does not end once an adoption order is granted. Through its dedicated Permanence Support Team, ATV provides ongoing guidance, peer support, group activities and specialist interventions that help families thrive and children achieve positive long-term outcomes. The team is very friendly and supportive, as well as being hard-working and very committed to adoption work. You will be joining a supportive team of aspirational, creative and committed Social Workers who strive to provide the best possible outcomes for adopted children. This role will be dedicated to support the needs of our families and children in relation to peer support and groups.Your responsibilities will include:
- To support, organise and attend events and support groups across the Adopt Thames Valley region.
- To maintain the continuous development of our peer support offer.
- To assist the Team Managers, ensuring the highest standards of service are provided.
- To ensure that services to users are delivered and developed according to Adopt Thames Valley policies procedures and guidance.
- To ensure that services are planned and delivered in a way that maximises participation and reflects Childrens Rights in relation to services being provided and in the way that Children, Young People and Families are worked with.
About you
Are you a passionate, person with experience of adoption or events coordination? Are you interested in different ways of working in this field? We are ideally seeking an employee with an interest and drive to support families and children who have experienced adversity.The applicant will need to demonstrate that they have a good understanding of the needs of adoptive families, and that they are keen to develop their knowledge and skills further. The successful applicant also needs to be computer literate.Your office base may be subject to change as we are currently transitioning between temporary and permanent office locations due to the closure of County Hall.
