Job summary

The successful applicants will be expected to join our team of enthusiastic Consultants to contribute to the increasing workload of the department which has been driven upwards by a combination of service expansion, cancer pathway driven targets, and multidisciplinary meeting attendance. You will be expected to contribute to sarcoma and upper GI reporting as well as performing image guided biopsies and procedures and expected to be flexible to meet these evolving needs including contributing to multidisciplinary team meetings and support the training of SpRs and Fellows. The role will include the provision of 7-day diagnostic on call cover.

Main duties of the job

Applications are invited for a Diagnostic Radiology Consultant post with a specialist interest in

abdominal imaging to join the established team of 81 Consultant Radiologists across UHB. The

successful candidate will be based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, with most of the work

focused on providing elective and acute Radiology services. However successful applicants are

expected to perform cross site duties via PACS system. The post includes participation in the QEH diagnostic on-call rota and the diagnostic oncall frequency is currently 1 in 27.

The QEH is a level 1 trauma unit so applicants must have appropriate prior experience in trauma

imaging (further details are available from Dr Amir).

The successful candidate will also be required to perform image guided procedures (CT and US) including biopsies. Involvement in inflammatory bowel disease MDT is strongly desirable.

Applicants must have completed specialist training in Clinical Radiology, supported by previous

Diagnostic experience. A commitment to Continuing Professional Development, in accordance

with Royal College of Radiologists standards and GMC Revalidation requirements, is essential.

Study leave will be supported by the Trust.

An interest in and commitment to undergraduate teaching is also expected. The post holders are

expected to support the training of Speciality Trainees and Fellows and work flexibly to cross-

cover colleagues during annual and other leaves.
