Main duties of the job
A Healthcare Assistant (HCA) in a gynaecology setting plays an essential supporting role in assisting medical professionals during hysteroscopic procedures. Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure used to examine and treat conditions inside the uterus, and HCAs are key in ensuring the smooth operation of these procedures and patient care.

- Blood pressure
- Pulse
- Temperature
- Respiratory rate
- Oxygen saturations
- Height and weight
- Assist clinicians during outpatient procedures such as:
- Colposcopy
- Hysteroscopy
- Endometrial biopsy
- Cervical procedures
- Coil (IUD/IUS) insertion and removal
- Prepare clinical areas and equipment before clinics.
- Clean and restock treatment rooms and clinical areas.
- Assist with specimen collection, labelling and transportation in line with policy.
- Report changes in patient condition to a registered nurse immediately.

- Current experience working within a surgical setting for a minimum of 6 months within the last 12 months.
- Proven NHS experience.
- Experience working within clinics or theatre environments is desirable.
