Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring, assertive and compassionate individual who is ready to take up this challenge in a very busy Same Day emergency Care Unit. The post holder will provide hands on care within the unit working under indirect supervision to gain proficiency in all areas of same-day emergency care. The Ambulatory Care centre is a modern Clinical Facility which opened at the end of 2016. It houses 17 reclining chairs and 3 trolleys with 3 consultation rooms.

Main duties of the job

The SDEC treats adult patients with medical conditions who need same-day emergency treatment that does not require an overnight stay. Patients are referred from A&E, by their GP and from other medical wards. Patients treated in the unit means they have same day care avoiding long waiting times in ED and an admission. The service includes scheduled bloods tests, routine X-ray's and ultrasound, with results reviewed the same day by specialist SDEC Consultants.

The Ward Manager leads a team of staff equipped with acute medical skills and a Matron who oversees the unit.
