Job summary
We are looking for a 1-2 day per week maternity cover Practice Nurse. (potential 2 positions if 2 candidates can offer 1 day each.) The salary is negotiable based on skills and experience.
Candidates should be willing to work in a developing role, be enthusiastic, empathetic, have flexibility in their approach and the ability to work as part of our friendly team. Candidates should be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and be keen to develop within an exciting and varied role within an innovative environment.
Main duties of the job
Responsibilities include chronic disease management, wound care, cytology, childhood immunisations, travel vaccination, NHS Health Checks, ECGs, assisting GPs in minor operation session, treatment room tasks including general immunisations, delivering health promotion and health education to patients addressing key lifestyle issues i.e. smoking, weight, diet etc.

We are a forward-thinking practice serving a patient population of 9,200 and are committed to putting patient care first. You will be working within an experienced and supportive team which includes 6 Partners, 4 Salaried GPs, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 3 Practice Nurses 1 Healthcare Assistant and 2 phlebotomists.

Patient health checks and clinical reviews, including but not limited to:
o Chronic Disease annual reviews inc. Diabetes, Asthma, COPD, CHD and CKD
o NHS health Checks
o INR testing (including housebound provisions)
o Learning Disability Checks
Perform injections including but not limited to: B12, depo (contraception), testosterone, zoladex, flu, pneumovax, shingles
BP monitoring including hypertension reviews and 24 hour BP
Urinalysis
Perform cytology testing
Travel Health: by providing comprehensive advice to patients prior to travel including; vaccinations and medicines, safe sex, food hygiene, sun protection.
Childhood and adult vaccinations, offer advice and ensure vaccines are administered under patient group directions.
Running well person clinics and health promotion programs by providing a holistic assessment and lifestyle advice on diet, smoking, alcohol intake and exercise.
Provide a holistic approach to wound management and implement wound care in line with current evidence based guidelines.
