This post has arisen as part of phase 1 consultant workforce expansion with aim of improving FDS performance and cancer treatment pathway. The successful candidate will be a General Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a special interest in gynaecological cancer diagnostics, including ultrasound-based one-stop clinics (USC), ambulatory gynaecology pathways, and colposcopy. The post holder will contribute to the development and delivery of rapid diagnostic pathways, ambulatory services, and outpatient-based care models aligned with national cancer strategy and modern gynaecological practice.

Consultant expansion is underway, and the on-call model is evolving towards a sustainable structure with dedicated resident obstetric consultant cover supported by separate consultant on-call provision for gynaecology.
