Job summary

We are seeking a motivated, flexible, skilled Occupational Therapist with a special interest in Rehabilitation to join our integrated Therapy team at the Friary hospital to maximise patient's function and support them to return to their chosen discharge destination.

We work very closely with the nursing team on the ward, and the discharge planning process is Therapy Lead. The Victoria Ward at the Friary Hospital provides a key service for the population of Richmondshire to enable them to receive intervention closer to home. We receive patients from a range of different hospital trusts in the area.

We work closely with the Community Therapy teams in Hambleton and Richmondshire and there may be occasions when we are required to support them, given that we cover a large rural geographical area there is an expectation that you will be able to travel independently in order to access other sites within the trust as well as complete rehab in the community for a period of up to 2 weeks post discharge.

Successful candidate must have access to a vehicle for work purposes to meet the requirements of the role.

Main duties of the job

To work as a senior Occupational Therapist within the therapy team at the Friary Hospital and the community therapy team at a highly specialised and advanced level, managing highly complex cases where there may be multiple pathologies.

To act as a highly specialised resource and provide advice to other professionals including medical staff, specialist nurses, social workers, and other therapists regarding older people for a wide range of individuals.

To be able to act both independently and as part of the Therapy team to manage a large caseload of in-patients with needs which are often highly complex as well as patient's in the community who have recently been discharged from the ward.

Undertake specialist assessment in relation to their physical, psychological, social and productivity circumstances and needs

This role does include Bank Holiday working, excluding Christmas Day
