The post-holder will be responsible for maintaining continuity of care for patients managed by the preceding consultant while contributing to the development of services, with particular emphasis on CGRP monoclonal antibody and Gepant therapy and services for patients with cluster headache and other trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias.

The role involves evaluating and treating a range of complex headache conditions, including patients who are candidates for CGRP blocking treatment, alongside urgent assessment and treatment initiation for cluster headache patients. The post-holder will work collaboratively with colleagues across the multidisciplinary team and contribute to timely, specialist care within the established 18-week treatment pathway.

The successful candidate will be eligible for full GMC registration with a current licence to practise and will hold, or be within six months of, a CCST in Neurology with appropriate Specialist Register status, or be progressing through the relevant Portfolio Pathway. They will hold MRCP(UK) or an equivalent qualification and have comprehensive knowledge of neurological disorders, with clinical expertise in complex headache and facial pain disorders, including trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to run an effective clinical service, identify appropriate investigations and onward referrals, communicate clearly in written and spoken English, and work effectively within an interdisciplinary or multispecialty team. They should also demonstrate leadership, sound decision-making, a commitment to teaching and continuing professional development, and the ability to work in line with UCLH's values of Safety, Kindness, Teamwork and Improving. Desirable experience includes a PhD, MD or equivalent specialist training, teaching experience, involvement in formal educational programmes, organisational experience, and a proven commitment to high-quality research and publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential

• Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practise
• Individuals should meet one of the following: have their CCST in Neurology and be on the specialist register; or be within 6 months of their CCST; or Locally Employed Doctors, Specialty Doctors, and Specialist Grades should submit their evidence portfolio to the GMC via the Portfolio Pathway (formerly CESR) in time for approval to be on the Specialist register within six months of appointment
• MRCP(UK) or an equivalent qualification.

Desirable

• PhD or MD or equivalent specialist training

Experience

Essential

• Knowledge of evidence informed practice Comprehensive and detailed knowledge of neurological disorders
