Job summary

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic professional with excellent communication skills and expertise in applying epidemiological and statistical methods. You will help shape public health priorities and decision-making by providing evidence on population health needs, trends and inequalities.

Main duties of the job

You will lead and contribute to significant epidemiological, research and evaluation workstreams, provide technical guidance and support to colleagues, and work collaboratively with partners to improve outcomes for the people of Derbyshire. You will play a key role in embedding research and evidence-based practice across local government. The role will involve working collaboratively with council services to identify research priorities, assess existing evidence, and support the development of new research activities that address local challenges and community needs. If you are passionate about public health, research and using evidence to drive meaningful change, we would welcome your application.

About us

You will join a supportive and experienced team with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality public health evidence and insight that inform decision-making across the local system. Our work includes health needs assessments, health equity audits, health impact assessments, evaluation and research. You will analyse and interpret complex data, critically appraise evidence, and translate findings into clear, actionable insights that influence policy, strategy and service development.
