An exciting opportunity has arisen for a vacancy within the Edith Cavell Ward at the Homerton Hospital. Edith Cavell ward is a 28 bedded ward specialising in Gastrointestinal and Rheumatological medicine .

As one of the first three star Foundation Trusts, we are now seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Ward Clerk to join our ward. This is a fast paced unit so you'll need to be constantly on the ball, but it's an exciting opportunity to join the team.

As a Ward Clerk will have the ability to manage your own caseload, and have a strong track record to be able to demonstrate high quality of admin and reception tasks and communicate effectively to the patient's and visitors to the unit.

Main duties of the job
- To provide a client centred reception service with respect to greeting patients,visitors and staff.
- To effectively deal with internal and external telephone enquiries; resolving queries as appropriate or otherwise passing them onto the appropriate individuals.
- To ensure that all relevant information including Healthcare Record are available for all patients.
- To record all patient information on the confidential computer system accurately and in 'real-time'.
- After discharge of patient, to document, track and deliver completed Healthcare Records to the appropriate department.
- After discharge of patient, to make any outpatient appointments as requested by the clinical team.
- To make the relevant transport arrangements for patients and escort(s) as requested by the clinical team via hospital transport/ambulance service.
- Where appropriate, to provide additional support with regards catering needs.
- To assist with booking agency staff and act on any messages in relation to this.
- To provide adequate clerical support where required. This includes photocopying notes and district nurse letters.
