Job summary

Applications are invited from a highly motivated and enthusiastic phlebotomist or healthcare assistant with up-to-date phlebotomy skills.

This position is for a minimum of 18 hours per week. Further hours could be available.

Main duties of the job

  • Phlebotomy skills, including management of patients taking Warfarin
  • Chronic disease management for hypertension, chronic kidney disease, ischaemic heart disease
  • BP recording, including 24 hour tapes
  • ECG recording, including 24 hour tapes
  • Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
  • Patient health checks
  • Chaperoning duties
  • Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses
  • Ensuring instrument kits are sent for sterilisation in a timely manner and received back
  • Sterilising, cleaning and maintenance of surgical equipment
  • Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording fridge temperature
  • Checking surgical equipment stock levels and stock rotation
  • Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being
  • Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
  • Recording clinical findings and updating data entry on clinical system according to practice requirements
  • Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being

Candidates should already have some experience within the medical/healthcare sector, including experience of phlebotomy.
