We are recruiting for two Clinical Trust Fellow (ST1/ST2) in the Respiratory Support Unit who share our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and have the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.

Main duties of the job

Successful candidates will work in respiratory medicine within the respiratory support unit. Our RSU opened in 2024 and beds 7-9 patients. This was purpose built to delivering high quality care to our respiratory patients requiring advanced non-invasive respiratory support and monitoring. The successful candidate will work to consolidate their experience in managing acutely unwell respiratory patients.

We will support the post holders with career planning and as a department, we have a strong track record in mentoring trainees and enabling them to get into Higher Speciality training in respiratory medicine.

The post will provide a dedicated full shift rota, covering the RSU 24/7 with on the floor consultant cover during the day (including weekends) and out of hours support via the Medical Registrar covering the ward and the on-call respiratory consultant. This will be a fixed term contract till August 2025 with the potential for extension depending on individual and department needs.

There will be valuable experience in managing acutely ill respiratory patients with the opportunity to gain competency in pleural ultrasound, chest drain insertion, initiating and titrating acute NIV and managing trachesotomies.
