Job summary

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our Adult Mental Health PICU services.

You will provide evidence-based occupational therapy assessments and interventions to support recovery, independence, and wellbeing for people with complex mental health needs. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to assessment, care planning, risk management, discharge planning, and the delivery of therapeutic activities.

The role includes providing clinical support and supervision, contributing to service development, and promoting high-quality occupational therapy practice. Experience of working within a recovery-focused approach and applying the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) is desirable. Experience of using outcome measures, including the Therapy Outcome Measure (TOM), is advantageous, although training can be provided.

Main duties of the job

  • Assesses & treats own specialist caseload of clients for professional OT service in a variety of settings
  • Provides specialist OT advice to other disciplines
  • Supervise junior staff, students, support workers
  • May lead clinical audit, undertake research
  • To be responsible for own practice and ensure effective patient/service-user care is maintained, possess effective time management skills
