Job summary

The Special School Nursing Team is a county-wide service made up of nurses and healthcare assistants based within Special Schools. We work across primary and secondary schools in Northamptonshire to ensure children and young people with additional healthcare needs can access their full educational curriculum. We collaborate closely with colleagues in community, acute, social, and educational settings. Our team delivers competency-based training programs to education staff within Special Schools, partnering with schools to meet the needs of the children and young people.

Main duties of the job

This role involves lone working in various settings, and we are looking for a forward-thinking, dynamic nurse to join our team in a permanent position. You will be part of an evolving service, working alongside passionate colleagues who are dedicated to high standards of practice and innovation, with the ability to work autonomously.

As a registered nurse, you will work alongside a senior special school nurse responsible for managing school caseloads. Your role will involve completing holistic nursing assessments, including continence assessments, developing individualized care plans, and conducting risk assessments to support the young person's Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP). You will also lead health promotion sessions in school settings for children and young people.
