Job summary

Are you a passionate Clinical or Counselling Psychologist looking for a rewarding part-time opportunity?

Join our Intensive Support Team in our Learning Disability Service in Oxfordshire and become part of a compassionate, multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality psychological care to adults with learning disabilities and complex needs.

This post is being advertised as 22.5-37.5 hours, depending on the candidate's preference, and would allow for the possibility of flexible working. In addition this post is being advertised as a Band 7 to 8a.

Main duties of the job

  • Delivering specialist psychological assessments and interventions.
  • Providing consultation and advice to multidisciplinary colleagues across the LD service.
  • Delivering individual and group therapy.
  • Supervising Assistant Psychologists and supporting Trainee Clinical Psychologists where appropriate.
  • Contributing to service development, clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Promoting evidence-based, person-centred psychological practice across the team

The ability to travel independently between sites within the Trust is essential for this role.

  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and inpatient settings.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
  • Experience of working with considerable autonomy, and exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care, treatment and discharge.
  • Demonstrate further specialist training/experience through having received a minimum of 50 hours clinical supervision of working as a specialist clinical psychologist over a minimum of 18 months, or an alternative Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision. Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts. agreed by the Director of Psychology.
