Job summary
The fellowships are open toapplicants that will beperi-certificationof completion of surgical training. If applicants are pre-CCT the local TPD must provide written evidence of expectation to achieve competencies by the post start date. Candidates without CCT at the time of job start will not be able to take up These posts are most suited to those applicants withintwoyearsofthecompletion of surgicalspecialtytraining.
We are recruiting 10 fellows for posts starting on the 2nd December 2026 for a period of 12 months in training centres throughout England.The start date is deferrable by 6 months according to candidate circumstances (not extend beyond March 2028). The 12monthposts offer a year of intensive trainingandaresuitable for candidateswho have trained inSurgical specialties (General Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Vascular Surgery, ENT, Neurosurgery, Paediatric Surgery and Urology) who have a demonstrable interest in Major Trauma Surgery. Candidates will be expected to develop an understanding of conflict injury and national preparedness.
Main duties of the job
The fellow will:
Gain advanced knowledge and experience in the assessment and management of major trauma patients.
Develop leadership skills in coordinating multidisciplinary trauma care from admission through rehabilitation.
Enhance technical surgical skills relevant to their specialty within a major trauma environment.
Develop an understanding of conflict-related injury management and national resilience planning.
Participate in teaching, audit, quality improvement and research activities relating to trauma care.
Contribute to the ongoing development of trauma services within the host organisation.
