Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for Clinical Coders to join our experienced team on a hybrid working basis. Working across a range of specialties our Clinical Coders provide an expert Clinical Coding service for all 37 Nuffield Health hospitals.

Main duties of the job

Provide a Clinical Coding service for all Nuffield Health hospitals Accurately assign ICD-10 and OPCS-4 codes to hospital episodes covering NHS and privately funded activity Code activity from a wide range of clinical specialties Provide coding expertise as required by the business Respond professionally to queries from hospitals and consultant surgeons Escalate any issues to the Specialist Lead or Clinical Coding Manager, when appropriate

Clinical Coder

Epsom (Primarily Remote Working) | Clinical Coding | Fixed Term Contract till 31st July 2027 (Maternity Cover) | Part-Time

Competitive salary available, dependent on experience

We have an exciting opportunity for Clinical Coders to join our experienced team on a hybrid working basis. Working across a range of specialties our Clinical Coders provide an expert Clinical Coding service for all 37 Nuffield Health hospitals.

Our coding team has a broad range of experience and includes an Experienced Approved Clinical Coding Trainer and two Approved Clinical Coding Auditors providing full audit, validation, and training support. This role is home-based, with occasional team meetings requiring travel, however there are no current plans for a meeting during this fixed term contract.

As our Clinical Coder you will:

  • Provide a Clinical Coding service for all Nuffield Health hospitals
  • Accurately assign ICD-10 and OPCS-4 codes to hospital episodes covering NHS and privately funded activity
  • Code activity from a wide range of clinical specialties
  • Provide coding expertise as required by the business
  • Respond professionally to queries from hospitals and consultant surgeons
  • Escalate any issues to the Specialist Lead or Clinical Coding Manager, when appropriate
  • To succeed as a Clinical Coder, you will need:
  • Experience working as a Clinical Coder in a healthcare environment
  • Accredited Clinical Coder (ACC) status mandatory
  • Good knowledge of ICD-10 and OPCS-4 coding classifications
  • Good knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology
  • Ability to sustain high volume and high-quality work product, with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a larger/virtual team
