Job summary

We are pleased to advertise this exciting opportunity as we continue to grow our practice list size and seek to further develop our well established and accomplished clinical team.

We welcome applicants from newly qulaified GPs as well as the more experienced.

Our clinical and operational teams work collaboratively with a shared foal of offering outstanding patient service and excellence in care. We have recently received "Good" rating in our CQC inspection.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

About us

Our team currently comprises 4 partners, 3 salaried GPs, 3 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, a Clinical Pharmacist, a Pharmacy technician, together with a team of RGns, Nurse associate and HCA's. We have an enthusiastic team od administrative and reception staff.

We look after approximately 14,300 patients in both urban and rural settings. Our main site, St. Martin's Gate Surgery, is based in a large, modern, purpose-built medical centre with excellent parking facilities in central Worcester. We also have abranch surgery based in the nearby village of St. Peter's and clinicans rotate to cover sessions.

We use digital aspects available to us giving patients an option to reach the surgery electronically.

Job description
Job responsibilities

  • In accordance to the practice timetable, the post-holder will make themself available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, home visits, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation.
  • Assessing the heathcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnoses problems.
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
  • In consultations with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.
  • Providing counselling and health education
  • Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
  • Collecting data for audit purposes
  • Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions
  • Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary whenever this is clinically appropriate.
  • In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
