Job summary

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Practice Nurse to join the clinical team at Patient Care Locally (PCL).

This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to work across our Roving Health Units and GP practices, delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to local communities. The role will include vaccination delivery, health promotion and a range of Practice Nurse activities, working both independently and alongside our wider clinical team.

Experience in immunisations or cervical cytology is essential for this role.

You will be joining PCL, a community interest company working with the NHS to deliver locally based healthcare services across Leicester, Leicestershire, Rutland and surrounding areas. We are committed to putting patients at the centre of our services, supporting our people and delivering safe, effective and high-quality care.

If you are looking for a varied clinical role where you can use your skills across different settings and make a positive difference to patients and communities, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

As a Practice Nurse, you will provide safe, effective and patient-centred clinical care across our Roving Health Units and GP practice settings.

Your main duties will include:

  • Delivering vaccinations and supporting local vaccination programmes, including work in areas affected by health inequalities.

  • Providing a range of Practice Nurse services, including wound care, ECGs, venepuncture, new patient medicals and women's health.

  • Undertaking cervical cytology within your scope of practice.

  • Requesting and following up pathology tests and providing appropriate advice to patients.

  • Promoting health and wellbeing and helping patients understand vaccination and other health-related issues.

  • Maintaining accurate clinical records and using clinical systems effectively.

  • Supporting high standards of infection prevention and control and ensuring clinical environments, equipment and stock are appropriately managed.

  • Working collaboratively with GP practices, colleagues and other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive appropriate care.

  • Identifying and escalating clinical, quality, health and safety concerns when required.

  • Managing your own workload effectively while working within your professional scope of practice and recognising when referral or additional support is required.

The role will involve working across different locations and travelling within the locality, so flexibility and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are important.
