Job summary

Are you a compassionate, experienced midwife looking for an opportunity to make a real difference to women and families with complex needs?

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Community Midwife (Complex Needs) to join our dedicated maternity team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a midwife who is passionate about providing individualised and inclusive care to women and pregnant people who may experience additional social, emotional, psychological or clinical complexities during pregnancy and the postnatal period.

As a Complex Needs Community Midwife, you will provide personalised midwifery care, working collaboratively with women, families and a wide range of health and social care professionals.

We are looking for a registered midwife who is compassionate, resilient, non-judgemental and committed to personalised care.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work autonomously, and the confidence to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Experience of working with women and families experiencing complex social or clinical circumstances would be highly desirable.

Most importantly, you will share our commitment to ensuring that every woman and family feels heard, respected and supported throughout their maternity journey.

If you are passionate about making a difference and want to develop your expertise in complex needs maternity care, we would love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

You will:

  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based antenatal and postnatal care in community settings.
  • Build trusting relationships with women who may have complex health, social or safeguarding needs.
  • Coordinate care with maternity, primary care, mental health, social care and voluntary-sector colleagues.
  • Advocate for women and families and promote informed choice and shared decision-making.
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and health inequalities.
  • Support women to access appropriate services and improve engagement with maternity care.
  • Contribute to reducing inequalities and improving outcomes for women, babies and families.
  • Work flexibly across community settings, providing care that is responsive to individual needs.
