Job summary

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to play a key role in delivering ABL's strategic change agenda and driving tangible operational improvements across the organisation

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of change, transformation, efficiency and process improvement projects, leading them through the full project lifecycle from business case development and initiation through to implementation and closure. You will develop and maintain project plans, monitor progress, manage risks and dependencies, and ensure projects deliver their agreed objectives and measurable business benefits. Working closely with departments across the organisation, you will identify opportunities to improve efficiency, streamline processes and reduce costs, facilitate process mapping and improvement workshops, and support the implementation of sustainable new ways of working. You will apply PRINCE2 principles to ensure effective project governance, maintain project documentation and RAID logs, and provide clear reporting to senior management and the Change Board. The role will involve building strong stakeholder relationships, facilitating meetings and decision-making forums, and influencing stakeholders to support successful outcomes. You will also define and monitor benefits, ensure improvements are embedded into business operations, and contribute to continuous improvement and lessons learned activities, working alongside the Health Equity Performance Lead where operational or process change is required.

Job responsibilities

ABL is seeking a highly motivated and self-sufficient Project Manager to lead and deliver a portfolio of business change, operational efficiency, and process improvement initiatives across the organisation. The role will be responsible for managing multiple concurrent projects from inception through to implementation and benefits realisation, ensuring delivery against agreed scope, timescales, budgets and quality standards.

The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of project management methodologies, particularly PRINCE2, alongside excellent stakeholder engagement, planning and organisational skills. They must be comfortable working independently with minimal supervision whilst operating effectively across multiple workstreams and business functions.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery

  • Manage a portfolio of change, transformation, efficiency and process improvement projects simultaneously.
  • Lead projects through the full project lifecycle, from change request / business case development and initiation through to implementation and closure.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, milestones, dependencies and resource requirements.
  • Monitor project progress, proactively identifying and managing risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies.
  • Ensure project objectives, deliverables and success criteria are clearly defined and achieved.
  • Drive projects to successful completion whilst maintaining focus on delivering measurable business benefits.

Change & Process Improvement

  • Support departments in identifying opportunities for operational improvement, increased efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Facilitate process mapping, current-state and future-state design workshops.
  • Challenge existing ways of working and identify practical opportunities to streamline processes and improve performance.
  • Support implementation of new ways of working and embed sustainable change across the organisation.

Governance & Reporting

  • Apply PRINCE2 principles, themes and processes to establish effective project governance.
  • Produce high-quality project documentation including change request, progress reports, Smartsheet plans, risk logs and closure reports.
  • Provide clear and concise project reporting to senior management and Change Board.
  • Maintain RAID logs and ensure timely escalation of key project risks and issues.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the organisation.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders and sponsors.
  • Facilitate workshops, meetings and decision-making forums.
  • Influence and engage stakeholders to gain commitment and drive successful project outcomes.

Benefits Realisation

  • Define and monitor project benefits and success measures.
  • Ensure improvements are embedded into business operations and benefits are realised post implementation.
  • Support continuous improvement activities and lessons learned reviews.
