Job summary
New Barn Close has a great opportunity for someone who has experience of working in General Practice or other healthcare organisation.
We are offering a part time role , likely 20-25 hours over 4 days, but these are open to negotiation.
We are looking for someone who is organised and methodical to oversee general premises maintenance to ensure we comply with all health and safety requirements, manage rolling maintenance processes and equipment inline with established protocols.
Maintain general housekeeping supplies and consumables for all departments.
Maintain all registers inline with regulatory protocols
Human Resource responsibilities, maintaining staff records, training and recruitment processes
Provide appropriate assistance to the Practice Manager in all day-to-day activities and duties, including CQC compliance
Main duties of the job
- Support Practice Manager in planning and co-ordinating the recruitment process to include interviewing, obtaining references, DBS checks and related paperwork inline with practice recruitment process.
- Maintain all staff leave records and co-ordinate staff training, ensuring diligent record keeping.
- Potential line management responsibilities of identified administration staff.
- Act as practice fire officer, organising regular fire drills and documenting accordingly
- Ensure housekeeping and consumable orders are made ensuring supplies are maintained
- Raise POs for equipment/maintenance contracts
- PCSE ordering prescription paper etc
- Ensure procurement of Practice equipment, supplies and services are within target budgets.
- Ensure that Practice premises are properly maintained and monitored in line with contractual obligations.
- Ensure fire prevention and security systems are maintained, and contractor obligations are delivered.
- Liaise with facility and equipment contractors to ensure building and equipment is maintained. Reporting and following up facility maintenance issues with landlord maintenance contractors
- Maintain maintenance registers in line with regulatory requirements.
About us
New Barn Close Surgery is a dispensing GP surgery located in Broadway, Worcestershire, with 3 GP partners and 4 salaried GP's providing primary care services to approximately 8000 patients.
We are a training practice for Specialist Trainee GP doctors and have a rotating final year medical student from Birmingham University.
Our nursing team comprises of a Practice nurse manager, three practice nurses, 2 HCA's and a phlebotomist.
We also have a strong and hard working Administration team.
We moved into our new surgery in October 2021 which provides us with a modern purpose built building to meet all our patient and staff needs. We have ample free car parking for staff and patients, including electric car charging points.
We have an onsite dispensary which serves approximately 50% of our patients.
Our close-knit team is committed to offering high quality, safe and effective care with a focus on providing excellent patient access and continuity of care.
The NHS GP Patient Survey is a barometer of GP Practice services across England. New Barn Close surgery came out as the highest rated surgery in the Vale of Evesham in 2026 as voted by our own patients.
We were rated as overall Good in our last CQC inspection (May 2025)
